Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Minister For Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad will address the G20 Digital Minister's meeting at 5.30 pm today (22 July) which will also be attended by his Chinese counterpart.
This meeting is part of the Sherpa Track for the G20 Leaders Summit 2020, which is scheduled to be hosted by Saudi Arabia at the end of this year.
This is the first time digital ministers of India and China will be on the G20 platform since India imposed a ban on 59 Chinese apps including Tik-Tok over national security concerns.
The Narendra Modi led Central government on 29 June had banned 59 Chinese Apps including prominent ones like Tik-Tok, UC Browser, WeChat, Share it and Mi Community, in light of the Galwan face-off along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Subsequently US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the nation is considering a ban on Tik Tok. It was recently reported that a group of United States' Congress members has asked President Donald Trump take strong action like India against the 'Chinese Communist Party (CCP) linked' sites.
