Reliance’s encouraging profits in third quarter of FY 2021-22 has further given a boost to companies plans to offer indigenously developed 5G services on its Jio network as early as the ongoing year, reports Times of India.
Reliance Jio reported a 15.5 per cent increase in profit as compared to the previous quarter while the group’s net income shot up by 13 per cent with respect to the last year.
The telecom company has already kicked off the advance tests to prepare the high-speed, fifth-generation network. However, its hopes hang in balance over the suspense regarding the availability of the spectrum considering that the government hasn’t auctioned the concerned airwaves yet. As of now, the group is utilizing the locally-developed equipment to test the transmission speeds.
Reliance's chairman Mukesh Ambani had last month announced that Jio will be the first to roll out 5G in India in the second half of the year.
“Jio will continue to accelerate the roll out of its digital platforms and indigenously developed next generation 5G stack and make it affordable and available everywhere. Jio is determined to make India 2G-mukt,” Ambani said in a statement.
