In a bid to provide relief for traffic violators in Delhi, the traffic police will launch an e-payment facility by the end of June, post which individuals committing such violations will be able to make e-payments for their challans, reports LiveMint.
At present, the traffic rules violators have to travel to headquarters of the traffic police division of the Delhi Police in West Delhi's Todapur area to pay their fines and challans. Thus, the launch of the e-payment facility is expected to provide major relief to the people as they would no longer have to travel to Todapur just to pay even a small fine.
The online payment facility will not only encourage the offenders to pay their fines, but it will also make the process easier and lead to an increase in collections, stressed Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K Jegadesan.
Jegadesan further added that "If you don't pay the challan, when you approach the RTO for any service in the future, be it transfer of your vehicle when the RTO types the registration number, it will also reflect the number of challans pending against the person,"
"In such a case, you can avail the service, but will have to make payments for pending challans,” the officer said.
