Days after international medical journal Lancet had published the results of Phase-1 and Phase-2 clinical trials data of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine called Sputnik-V, the authorities in Moscow have now submitted "comprehensive data" on vaccine's safety and efficacy to the Indian counterparts reports Indian Express.

This comes as India had sought the data from Moscow-based Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. Also to be noted, the sharing of the comprehensive data comes at a time when Russia is planning to conduct Phase-3 clinical trials of Sputnik-V in various nations, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Indian engagement with the Russians regarding the vaccine is being coordinated by India's Ambassador to Russia DB Ventakesh Varma and by Renu Swarup, who is the Secretary, Department of Biotechnology.

It should be noted that the study published in the Lancet journal states that the Sputnik-V vaccine is highly immunogenic and induces strong humoral and cellular immune responses in 100 per cent of healthy adult volunteers.
