Senior Congress leader S M Krishna said “dynastic succession without competence” was responsible for the slide of the Congress, which is now in a “state of confusion”.
The 84-year-old leader, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday after 46 years with the Congress, said in an interview with Hindustan Times, “Politics is a serious business. It is not a hit-and-run job nor is it a part-time job.”
There was no opportunity to raise issues or make suggestions to the Congress leadership, Krishna said, adding, “But for the past three years leaders like me were made to feel unwanted.”
“But look at the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working and the BJP president is working. They are very focussed and hard working,” he said.
Krishna said he has contributed a lot to the growth of the Congress party in return for the senior positions he was entrusted with, and no one can blame him for leaving the party now.
