SC’s Five-Judge Constitution Bench To Begin Hearing On Pleas Against Abrogation Of Article 370 From Today

The five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court of India headed by the Justice N V Ramana is set to initiate hearings today (10 December) on a batch of petitions challenging the validity of the Parliament's decision to deoperationalise the controversial Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, reports Times of India.

The batch of pleas have been filed by a set of lawyers, activists and political parties including the Farooq Abdullah led National Conference (NC), Sajjad Lone led J&K People's Conference, and Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami who is a senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).


Mehta said that although common compilation of submission is ready but if any fresh material emerges during the course of hearing then it will be filed at a later stage.

The Constitution bench also comprises of Justices S K Kaul, R Subhash Reddy, B R Gavai and Surya Kant.
