Second Mass Shooting In US: Gunman Shoots Dead 9, Injures 16 In Dayton, Ohio

Even before a day had passed after a shooter suspected of white supremacist tendencies carried out a mass shooting in a Walmart supermarket in El Paso, Texas, another mass shooting has occurred in Dayton, Ohio, reports AP.

The death toll in the the Dayton shooting is 9, with another 16 injured. The attack place in the Oregon district of the city, but police officers nearby were able to control the situation quickly by neutralising the shooter.

According to ABC News, the shooter was armed with a .223-caliber rifle and also had protective body armour on. He had brought a number of high-capacity magazines with him, indicating that the attack could’ve been much worse if it went on for longer.

The shooting happened in an area which is considered part of downtown Dayton, an area that is dotted with a number of bars, restaurants and clubs, and is thus quite popular with locals as well as tourists.
