Senior BJP leaders held a meeting last night (28 June) to discuss the strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, according to sources, as reported by NDTV.
Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J P Nadda, and other senior party leaders attended the meeting, which took place at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence.
Sources indicated that the meeting, which lasted for over five hours, may have discussed a major reshuffle.
The party has not yet released an official statement on the meeting, which occurred as Shah, Nadda, and BJP general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh were engaged in marathon deliberations over organisational and political issues.
PM Modi, in his address to BJP workers, has already announced that the government would push for the nationwide implementation of a Uniform Civil Code, an agenda that has always been part of the BJP's manifestos.
The BJP's loss in Karnataka has prompted the party to modify its campaign strategy for the upcoming state elections later this year.
Four crucial states, namely Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh, will be going to polls. Out of these, only Madhya Pradesh is currently governed by the BJP.
This move was also perceived as a significant outreach effort by the ruling party to garner support ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
On the other hand, all opposition parties are planning to contest the 2024 election collectively.
During a recent meeting, the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and 14 other opposition parties proposed the idea of forming a grand alliance for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
