Amid the speculations that the celebrated former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly could enter politics ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Ganguly on Saturday held an hour-long meeting with State Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhavan, reports Economic Times.
The meeting has been officially described as a "courtesy call" by Ganguly, who in the capacity of the chairmanship of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extended an invitation to Governor Dhankhar to offer a visit to the oldest cricket ground in the country, Eden Gardens.
It should be noted that the State is set to undergo assembly elections in April-May period next year, whereby the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and the Left will look to challenge the incumbent ruling establishment of Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee.
