Stand Up India: Uttar Pradesh Receives Maximum Loan Amounts Under Modi Government’s Scheme

Uttar Pradesh has received the maximum amount of loan disbursed under the Government of India's Stand Up India programme, garnering a total sum of Rs 2,035 crore, reports The Hindu Businessline.
Under the programme, the Government of India has so far sanctioned a total of Rs 17,937 crore. After UP, the States of Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have respectively emerged as the second and third largest beneficiaries of the programme. Tamil Nadu has received Rs 1,646 crore while Gujarat got Rs 1,616 crore.
Launched in April 2016, Stand Up India initiative facilitates bank loans in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore to borrowers from SC/ST backgrounds or women, to help them setup enterprises in manufacturing, services and trading sectors.
As of November 2019, a total of 80,002 loans have been sanctioned by the Government of India under the programme.
