In a positive development, the students who couldn't write the entrance examination to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) this year will be allowed an additional attempt to appear for the JEE Advanced test next year, reports Indian Express.
The decision was taken by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) on Tuesday (13 October) to address the concerns of the affected students. The students who had successfully registered to appear in JEE Advanced 2020 examination but were absent during the examination will stand to directly benefit from the decision.
The decision by JAB comes as a major relief for the aspirants. It also gains significance under the fact that of the 2.5 lakh eligible aspirants, only 1.5 lakh had appeared for the examination this year.
Meanwhile, JAB also decided that these aspirants will not have to qualify JEE Mains 2021 examination and will be deemed qualified to appear for the JEE Advanced 2021 examination based on their successful registration to appear in JEE Advanced 2020.
