Sun Direct Takes On Tata Sky, Other DTH Giants, Unveils Plans With Network Connection Fees As Low As Rs 50

Going all out in its bid to take on market rivals like Tata Sky, Dish TV and Airtel Digital TV in the hotly contested Direct to Home (DTH) industry, Sun Direct has revised its network capacity fees to offer the connections at prices as low as Rs 50, reports Dream DTH.

This network capacity fee has been capped to Rs 59 (including taxes) for up to 200 Standard Definition channels and the same amount will be charged if the standard definition channels exceed 200.

The new tariffs unveiled by Sun Direct which have already come into effect is likely to increase the competition in the market in which Tata Sky holds the highest share of 31.61 per cent, and is closely followed by Dish TV which has a share of about 31.23 per cent. Following these players stands Airtel Digital TV which has a share of 23.39 per cent.

Meanwhile, Sun Direct stands at the fourth position with a total share of 13.78 per cent.

However, the figures do not include cable TV industry, in which Siti Networks is the largest player with a whopping 9.1 million active subscribers as on 30 September 2019, followed by GTPL Hathway, Hathway Digital and Den Networks.
