Suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists attacked an army camp at Sunjwan in Jammu city earlier today (10 February), leaving three army personnel and the daughter of an armymen injured. According to Director General of Police (SGP) S P Vaid, the terrorists the camp from its rear side where the residential quarters are located. Three terrorists have been isolated.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) S D Jaiswal said that at around 4.55 am, the sentry noticed some suspicious movement when his bunker was fired upon. The sentry fired retaliatory shots following which the terrorists were cornered in the quarters. There are unconfirmed reports that at least one person was killed.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly Kavinder Gupta said that the attack was caused due to the presence of an illegal Rohingya refugee camp in the vicinity.
“The incident took place due to presence of Rohingyas in the area,” said Gupta.
The Opposition meanwhile alleged that Gupta was targetting members of a particular community and demanded his apology, adding that till then they would not allow the house to function.
