Suspicious Explosion Near HAL AIrport In Bengaluru, Remains Of Gelatin Sticks Found

BySwarajya Staff

A low-intensity explosion took place earlier today (3 July) near the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) airport and manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, reports The Times of India. The blast occurred near a garbage dump at Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar at around 4.30 pm, according to police reports.

According to deputy commissioner of police (Whitefield division) Abdul Ahad, the blast might have been triggered by the remnants of gelatin sticks in a garbage dump. HAL had earlier used gelatin to blast rocks in order to construct residential quarters for its employees. Labourers had set fire to the garbage dump which could have triggered the blast, he added. No injuries were reported and the only property damaged was a plastic water tank.

The bomb disposal squad and forensic experts arrived on the scene. The police has decided to register a case of negligence.
