In a bid to encourage customers with multiple television set to choose its platform Tata Sky is now giving a big discount of Rs 300 on purchase of every secondary set-top-box, reports Telecom Talk.
Hence, if subscribers wish to use a Tata Sky connection on more that one TV sets in their home or workplace, the secondary HD set top box would be available at a price of Rs 1,199.
For example, the first set top box which the subscriber buys will cost Rs 1,499 but every subsequent set top box bought for the same customer id under Tata Sky’s Multi-TV scheme will cost Rs 300 less.
In total Tata Sky allows a maximum of three secondary set top boxes on every primary connection, thus customers can avail the Rs 300 discount on the second, third and fourth set top box. This would lead to a total possible discount of Rs 900.
Tata Sky though has priced the secondary SD set top box at Rs 1,800, almost Rs 600 more than the HD option, possibly in order to incentivise the use of HD connections.
Tata Sky had recently discontinued its standard discount on Multi-TV connections and instead introduced a new scheme called “Room TV Service” which promised to be cheaper by providing greater freedom to customers for choosing channels.
