Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that the state has 30 fresh cases of COVID-19 and three deaths due to novel coronavirus on Wednesday (Apr 2), Telangana Today reported. This so far, is the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases reported in a single day in the state.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the State now stands at nine. All the fatalities are of individuals who had attended the Markaz congregation.
The CM said all the new cases reported today in the state were participants who returned from Tablighi Jamat Markaz congregation and their family members. The state has 127 cases of Covid-19 with at least 14 recoveries.
Health authorities in the state have intensified their effort to complete COVID-19 testing for 300 persons from the state who attended the Markaz and have been identified .
The State government also made a fervent request to people who attended the Markaz congregation, their family members as well as their secondary contacts to voluntary report for tests.
Telangana Today quoted CM as saying “The virus that has attacked the people who attended the Nizamuddin meeting appears to be more virulent than the ones that afflicted people who had returned from foreign trips earlier on as is evident from the fact that they (foreign returnees) are all on the road to recovery.”
The state witnessed a big surge in coronavirus positive cases on Tuesday with health officials confirming 15 more persons, those who attended the religious congregation in New Delhi and also their contacts, as Covid-19 positive.
