Testing Political Correctness? Facebook Blocks Account Of Israeli PM Netanyahu’s Son For Alleged Anti-Muslim Posts

BySwarajya Staff

Social media site Facebook temporarily banned the account of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son Yair Netanyahu for writing alleged anti-Muslims posts, reports The Hans India.

Facebook account of Yair was blocked for a day on Sunday (16 December) after he called for “avenging the deaths" of two Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers who were killed last week in the West Bank shooting, says the report quoting Times of Israel.

Yair took to twitter for expressing his disappointment with Facebook banning him. "Unbelievable. Facebook blocks me for 24 hours for simply criticising it! Thought police," Yari tweeted along with a screenshot of the original post along with the new posts criticising Facebook.

While Facebook is yet to comment, the controversial post was removed from the social media site. Yari wrote that the social media site was "trying to shut our mouths in the only place where we have the right to express our opinions".

"Do you know where there are no terror attacks? In Iceland and Japan. Coincidentally there's also no Muslim population there," he posted.

This is not the first time that Yair Netanyahu has been in the media spotlight. He had, earlier in 2017, posted a diagram featuring antisemitic tropes such as Jewish billionaire George Soros, who funds the left-wing causes and organisations in various countries, says the report quoting Jerusalem Post.
