Amid the ongoing stand-off between India and China at the line of actual control in Eastern Ladakh, the world's highest airstrip located at 16,614 feet in Daulat Beg Oldie is expected to play a key role in helping India mobilise troops.

As per Aroor, this airstrip allows Indian Armed Forces to deploy a large number of troops at a very short notice in the area.

The decision to reactivate it was taken to ensure that the Indian Air Force is able to maximise the logistic support it is able to provide to the Indian Army and the Paramilitary Forces stationed at the LAC.
