After reigning supreme on the charts in the English news category, Republic TV is reported to be featuring in Hindi soon, as Republic Bharat.
Owned by ARG Outlier Media, the channel is expected to launch ahead of the general elections in April-May 2019. Reports have suggested that Republic TV became the first channel to make a profit within such a short period since its launch.
The Hindi news channel is expected to strengthen the company’s broadcast portfolio further and the content will feed into the company’s digital forays, thus providing additional avenues of monetisation.
Currently, Aaj Tak, ABP News, India TV, Zee News, News18 India, India News, and News Nation are the major players in the segment. The company has reportedly made its first important hire in former India News Editor (National Affairs) Shamsher Singh.
Reports also suggest that the company had hired a financial consultancy firm named Client Associates to mobilise funds for the new Hindi variant of the channel. The company also plans to raise Rs 120 crore for launching the Hindi news channel.
