Trinnamool MP Nusrat Jahan, who has been married to businessman Nikhil Jain, has once again come under attack from Muslim clerics after she participated in Durga Puja in Kolkata on Sunday (6 October), reports Times Now.
The actress-turned-politician, along with her husband, offered Ashtami prayers and also played the traditional Dhaak at Kolkata’s prominent Suruchi Sangha Durga Puja.
However, a cleric from Darul Uloom Deoband in Uttar Pradesh said that Islam does not permit a follower to offer prayers to any God other than Allah.
“She has been participating in such prayers, there is nothing new in this. However, under Islam, a follower is not allowed to offer prayers to any God other than Allah, this is ‘haram’. She should change her name and religion,” the cleric said, as reported by Times Now.
Earlier in June, after she married Jain, the TMC MP was attacked by Islamic clerics for marrying a non-Muslim. Furthermore, she was also targeted by Islamic clerics for taking the oath in the Parliament as an MP while wearing Sindoor and bangles.
