To Counter Jio, Airtel Relaunches Three-Tier Loyalty Scheme; Includes Netflix, Amazon Prime, Wynk Freebies

BySwarajya Staff

After a major rejig, telecom major Airtel has now relaunched its flagship customer rewards program Airtel Thanks segregated into Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, reports Mint.

The program which was initially launched in October (2018), offered Airtel customers who committed a monthly average revenue per unit (ARPU) of Rs 100 with rewards like premium access to Airtel's apps ( Wynk, Airtel TV, Airtel Books), Amazon Prime, ZEE5 and Netflix subscriptions and exclusive offers on sales on e-commerce platforms.

However this time, the benefits are staggered over three levels and the higher the tier, the better the benefits.

While the Silver tier is an entry to the world of basic content - AirtelTV and Wynk, Gold customers get access to many add-on telecom benefits and excellent value access on premium content or financial services.

On the other hand, Platinum Airtel customers will have access to VIP service from Airtel, premium content, e-books, device protection, and exclusive invites and priority access to events and sales.

To Counter Jio

These reworked loyalty programmes represent Airtel's latest efforts to counter growing dominance of Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea in India's telecom sector.

Reliance Jio recently overtook Airtel to emerge as the second largest telecom firm in the country, second only to Vodafone Idea in subscriber count. While 30-month old Jio now has an impressive subscriber count of 30.6 crores, third-placed Airtel has 28.4 crore subscribers.
