UP Cabinet Gives Approval To Rename Ayodhya Airport As Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram Airport

BySwarajya Staff

The upcoming Ayodhya airport will be named as Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram Airport.

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has passed the proposal on it and decided to forward the same to the Civil Aviation Ministry.

The airport in Ayodhya aims at handling the surge in international and domestic tourist traffic once the grand Ram temple becomes operational. The state government is aggressively pursuing the project and work is on at a war footing.

According to official sources, the Yogi Adityanath government has set the December 2021 deadline for completion of the airport.

"The government believes that there will be a huge tourist traffic -- both domestic and international -- in Ayodhya when the construction of grand Ram temple is completed. The airport will further facilitate this," said an official spokesman.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is personally monitoring the progress of the airport project, as well as other developmental projects in the holy city.

He has also taken vital steps towards realising his ambitious project — the Ayodhya 'upnagar' — a new town adjacent to Ayodhya. This project draws inspiration from the civilizational pride, aesthetics and heritage of Shri Ram's Ayodhya.
