Ishfaque from Mahoba of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has been arrested under stringent sections of the state’s Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, POCSO Act and the SC/ST Act for impersonating, stalking and threatening a 14-year-old school girl for several months.

The girl complained about Ishfaque to her family after getting to know that the boy had hidden his real identity from her.

As per complaint filed by the family members, Ishfaque introduced himself as Raj to the girl in question and subsequently befriended her.

Ishfaque started threatening her of abduction and causing grave consequences to her family if she didn’t reconcile their relationship. He even threatened to wipe out her and her family members.

Now, the boy has been booked under the anti-conversion law. Charges of IPC sections 354D and 506 concerned with stalking and criminal intimidation have also been leveled against him.

“We have arrested the accused and sent him to jail after registering a case under the anti-conversion law, besides relevant sections of IPC, POCSO Act and SC/ST Act,” Inspector Kotwali Balram Singh confirmed whilst speaking to the Times of India.
