UP: Muslim Cleric Urges Community Members To Hoist Palestinian Flags Atop Their Houses, Arrested By Police

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday (20 May) arrested Maulana Yasir Akhtar for urging his community members to display the flag of Palestine atop their houses and vehicles after the Friday namaaz.

The Muslim cleric was booked under Section 505 (2) (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reports Times Now.

"It came to our notice that Yasir, a resident of North Churihar Kasba in Saraimir area, made an appeal on his Facebook page, ‘Azamgarh Express’, displaying the Palestinian flag and asking the community members to put such flags atop their houses and vehicles after Friday namaaz,” Azamgarh SP Sudhir Kumar Singh said.


Recently, four persons including a Muslim cleric were arrested by Kannauj police in Uttar Pradesh for raising pro-Pakistan slogans.

Police have booked 15 people and arrested four among others after taking cognizance of the video which had gone viral on social media.
