In a no-holds-barred fashion, the United States (US)' Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe has stressed that China is the biggest threat to democracy and freedom worldwide since the World War Two, reports Economic Times.

Writing in an opinion piece on the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) website, DNI Ratcliffe has pressed, "The intelligence is clear: Beijing intends to dominate the U.S. and the rest of the planet economically, militarily and technologically."

The scathing words on China by Ratcliffe come as a stepping up of President Donald Trump's harsh attacks on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime-led Beijing.

It should be noted that the US and China relations have been in rough weathers over the recent years owing to trade war and COVID-19 pandemic amid other concerns. The US' overt backing of Taiwan and arms sales to it has also not been received pleasantly by China, which has warned the former of repercussions.
