Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant--Khorasan Province (also called as IS-KP, ISIL-KP, ISIL-K or ISIS-K), the Afghan affiliate of Da'esh, had earlier taken responsibility for the heinous attack

“Yesterday, we brought out another 6,800 people, including hundreds of Americans,” he said. “And today, we discussed the ongoing preparations to help people continue to leave Afghanistan after our military departs.”

The U.S embassy in Kabul has also asked its citizen to leave the vicinity of the airport immediately due to “a specific, credible threat” of an imminent attack.
