Five days after Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman proposed in the Union Budget to set up 100 Sainik Schools in the country, Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath has sent the Union Government a proposal to open Sainik Schools in all the 18 divisional headquarters of the State, reports Hindustan Times.

UP presently is home to three of the 31 Sainik Schools run by the Union Ministry of Defence across the country.

As per the State Government's spokesperson, "Sainik Schools provide quality education at a reasonable fee and if the Central government gives its nod to the proposal of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, more students of the state will get the opportunity to get enrollment in these schools."

Already home to the maximum number of Sainik Schools in the nation, if the State Government's proposal receives the Centre's acceptance, it will give a huge impetus to the State's education sector.
