Watch: Indian Navy’s Advanced Talwar Class Frigates Being Readied At Russia’s Kaliningrad

BySwarajya Staff

Two hulls which will be turned into advanced Talwar class frigates for the Indian Navy have been captured as being ready in Yantar shipyard at Russia’s Kaliningrad by defence journalist Manu Pubby.

As per Pubby, hulls of the two Talwar class frigates are already ready and they have been launched into the water by the ship makers. He posted as video of the two ships, stationary in the water.

Both the ships are expected to be delivered to India by 2022 and when complete, would be armed with the deadly Brahmos missile.

In total, Indian Navy is expected to induct four such frigates, two of which would be built in Goa. The total deal for the warships is said to be worth $2.2 billion.

The warships being built in India are expected to cost around 30 to 50 per cent extra as compared to the Russian counterparts as new infrastructure would need to be built.
