Watch: Three More Rafale Fighters Land In India After Flying Non-Stop From France

BySwarajya Staff

Earlier today, the second batch of three more Rafale fighter jets for the Indian Air Force landed at the Jamnagar Air Force Base in Gujarat.

The fighter jets reached India after flying non-stop from France. The first batch of five fighters, delivered earlier this year, had made a stop in the UAE.

India is also set to get 13 more Rafales by the end of April 2021.

With the addition of the new fighter aircraft, the number of Rafales in service with the Ambala-based No.17 Squadron (Golden Arrows) squadron will rise to eight. When the 13 more fighters coming in between today (4 October) and April 2021 reach India, the No. 17 squadron will get all its 18 fighters. The remaining fighters will go for the second squadron of the fighter set to come up in the northeast.

The delivery of these fighters amid tensions with China contributes significantly towards improving India’s defences on the land and in air.

The Rafales already in service with the IAF have already started carrying out ‘familiarisation sorties’ in the Ladakh region.
