Hinting at a huge party-hopping in the run-up to the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukul Roy said that nearly 107 MLAs, most of them from the ruling Trinamool Congress, are likely to join the saffron part very soon, reports Times of India.
"107 West Bengal MLAs from CPM, Congress and TMC will join BJP. We have their list prepared and they are in contact with us," said Roy without divulging deeper.
Six TMC MLAs and one each from Congress and the CPM have switched over to BJP since the Lok Sabha poll results, in which the saffron party bagged 18 out of 42 seats in the state.
Incidentally, Roy is a former TMC bigwig who joined the saffron ranks in 2017. Mocking the TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for appointing Prashant Kishor as a political strategist, Roy said, "The appointment of Prashant Kishor is ample evidence that the TMC has lost confidence in the so-called charisma of Mamata Banerjee."
