What An IKEA Sirji! Swedish Furniture Giant Set To Roll Out Its Third Store In India, At Bengaluru In 2020

Swedish Company IKEA is set to start the construction of its Bengaluru store after it launched its first Indian store in Hyderabad two years ago. The ground-breaking ceremony with be held on 11 October, as reported by The Hindu.

Spokespersons of the company confirmed that the Bengaluru store was likely to be open by 2020, in an interaction with media at the store in Hyderabad on Thursday (4 October). This would be IKEA’s third establishment with the second being planned in Mumbai in 2019.

The Bengaluru store will be close to Nagasandra metro station and will be spread across 400,000 square feet, as big as the one in Hyderabad, said Patrik Antoni, Deputy Country Manager, IKEA India.

“The company will have some products catering to the needs of apartment-dwellers as this is the predominant lifestyle in the city,” he added.

IKEA has 7,500 products on offer, out of which 95 per cent are from global range and 5 per cent specifically designed for the needs of Indian customers based on local lifestyles.

Since its launch in August, the store in Hyderabad has seen footfalls of 1.15 million, according to John Achillea, Hyderabad store manager and Telangana MD, IKEA India.

The company aims to reach out to 49 Indian cities by 2030. Some of these will be brick-and-mortar establishments. The target is to reach out to 6 million customers over the next one year and 200 million in three years.

Also in the pipeline are online services, which will be launched soon.
