When The ‘Guru’ Needs ‘Shiksha’: 77 Per Cent Of Delhi’s Contractual School Teachers Fail Basic Recruitment Test

The Delhi Subordinate Selection Board (DSSB) has submitted that a staggering 77 per cent of ad-hoc teachers of Delhi government schools have failed to secure minimum passing marks for permanent recruitment as teachers and its additional staff, reports India Today.

According to the reports, more than a third of the teaching staff is filled by guest and contractual teachers who have been teaching in the schools since the past several years.

However, their contracts reportedly ended on 28 February, and their demand for permanent job placement was a raging issue since then.

There were 66,736 sanctioned teaching posts out of which 25,000 were filled by guest faculty.

The affidavit submitted to Delhi HC, DSSB declared that it conducted exams between July to November 2018 to fill 9,556 vacancies in government schools in which 7.5 lakh candidates took the test.

As many as 5,906 vacancies are there in municipal corporation schools for which there were 1.15 lakh applicants.
