‘Will Seek President Rule If Situation Continues In West Bengal’: BJP National Secy Rahul Sinha

BySwarajya Staff

Witnessing large scale violent protests in the state of West Bengal over the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha on Saturday (14 December) said the party will seek imposition of President's Rule in the state if the situation continues, reports NDTV.

Sinha also accused illegal Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators for being behind the violent protests and damage of public property in the state.

He also said that the Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is playing appeasement politics which has deteriorated the situation in the state.

"She has done little to contain the spiralling violence which is on for the past two days in the state over the enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Bill," he said. "We (BJP) never support President's Rule. But if such anarchy continues in West Bengal, we will be left with no option but to seek President's Rule in the state. The TMC government is just a mute spectator when the entire state is burning," Mr Sinha told reporters in Kolkata.

He also added that the violence is created by Bangladeshi Muslim community and not the peace-loving Muslims of Bengal. He further said that Bengali Muslims should be alert that their name is not tarnished by the rioters.
