With Bolstering Bilateral Ties, Portugal Announces Support For India’s Bid For UNSC Permanent Membership

Portugal on Friday (14 February) announced support for India's bid for a permanent seat in the powerful multilateral forum of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), calling New Delhi the key to the balance of power in the world, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Announcing his support for India's bid to have a permanent seat at the UNSC with President Ram Nath Kovind by his side, Portugese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa called his nation's support a display of recognition of India in the world.


Meanwhile, President de Sousa also shared that he had been deeply touched with the warm reception he has been accorded in India. He also added, "We feel that we live in a new era, in a long-lasting friendship, that is facing the future."
