After the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 came to an end yesterday (19 May), UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sacked Minister for Backward Class Welfare and 'Divyangjan' Empowerment Om Prakash Rajbhar from the UP cabinet, reports Times of India.
Rajbhar is the chief of the regional party Suhaildev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) which was an erstwhile ally of the BJP in UP. He fell out with the BJP ever since the latter asked him to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Ghosi Lok Sabha constituency on a BJP ticket.
Riposting to the BJP offer, Rajbhar not only turned down the ruling party but also tendered his resignation from the cabinet on 13 April.
Meanwhile, having turned down the BJP offer to contest on its ticket, Rajbhar had went on an offensive against the former by announcing candidates on 22 seats while lending support to the SP-BSP-RLD combine on three seats - Bansgaon, Sant Kabir Nagar and Maharajganj.
Furthering the offensive against the BJP, Rajbhar also lent his support to the Congress candidate from Mirzapur.
