'Amaravati Will Be Capital Of Andhra Pradesh', Says TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu Day Ahead Of Swearing-In As Chief Minister

N Chandrababu Naidu, the chief of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), confirmed on Tuesday (11 June) that Amaravati would be the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu's announcement comes a day before he is set to be sworn in as the Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister.
The announcement came during the NDA Legislative Party meeting in Vijayawada, where Naidu was unanimously elected as the alliance’s leader of the House.
His nomination was proposed by Jana Sena Party chief K Pawan Kalyan and supported by D Purandeswari, the BJP state president and newly elected MP.
“Amaravati will be the capital of our state. We will aim to develop the entire state, not just a few places,” Naidu was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Addressing the meeting, Naidu emphasised that the focus would be on developing the entire state, not just specific areas.
Taking a dig at outgoing CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had said he would develop Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital and take oath there, Naidu said the people had responded to the idea by defeating the YSRCP in Visakhapatnam.
Naidu also indicated a strong stance against corruption, stating that those who committed crimes during the previous regime would face legal consequences.
In Tuesday’s meeting, Naidu said, “We will function democratically and secularly and no one’s self respect will be taken away. We will all work together for everyone".
The motto of the new government, according to Naidu, will be 'State First'.
“We do not know what our financial situation is. We do not know what the debt of our state is, where money was borrowed from, and what was mortgaged. We will work with the motto of ‘State First’ and aim for all round development,” Naidu said.
Naidu also heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading India to a “position of prestige”.
