TMC chief Mamata Banerjee with NCP leaders Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (11 July) revealed her plans to go to Mumbai to attend Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding.
"I have been invited by Mukesh ji and Nita ji to attend the wedding of Anant and Radhika. They requested me so many times. Therefore, I am going to Mumbai to attend the wedding," she told reporters.
However, during her visit to Mumbai, she will also be meeting other INDI Alliance leaders like former Maharashtra Chief Ministers Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar.
"Tomorrow, I have an appointment with Uddhav Thackeray. We will hold political talks as I am meeting him after a long time, especially after the Lok Sabha polls," Banerjee said.
Banerjee is the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo, while Thackeray, Pawar and Yadav lead Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar faction of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) respectively.
All the parties performed well in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections with SP winning 37 seats, TMC 29, Shiv Sena (UBT) nine and NCP (Sharad Pawar) eight seats.
However, the main opposition party Congress will not be a part of this 'mini INDI Alliance meet-up' because of Rahul Gandhi's anti-Ambani stance. Anyways, the Congress and TMC are at loggerheads in West Bengal.
