In a meeting with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia.
Putin expressed confidence in the enduring "traditional conventional friendly ties" between the two nations, regardless of India's upcoming political landscape.
Addressing the imminent Lok Sabha elections in India, Putin as reported by NDTV, conveyed his best wishes for success and underlined the steadfast relationship between Moscow and New Delhi.
He emphasised, "no matter the alignment of political forces, traditional ties will persist between our nations."
Putin expressed satisfaction with the progressive relationship between Russia and India, noting, "despite global turmoil, our ties with our true friend in Asia, India, have been progressing incrementally."
He concluded by asking Dr Jaishankar to convey his greetings to Prime Minister Modi and expressed eagerness to welcome him to Russia.
Putin acknowledged India's busy political schedule in the upcoming year, including general elections, and wished for continued success in fostering bilateral ties.
