Andhra Pradesh: High Court Dismisses Chandrababu Naidu's Petitions In Three Different Cases

In a significant legal development, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed three petitions filed by former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu in three separate cases, marking a setback for the prominent political leader.

As per the Times Of India, the first two regular petitions were dismissed on technical grounds, with the court ruling that Naidu's judicial remand in one case could not be deemed as custody in the other cases, thus denying his request for regular bail.

In the third case, where Naidu had sought anticipatory bail, the High Court rejected it, citing that the investigation had reached its final stages, making anticipatory bail inappropriate at this juncture.

Naidu had also filed regular bail applications related to the alleged Inner Ring Road (IRR) scam case and another case stemming from violent incidents at Angallu in Annamayya district.

These applications were made following Naidu's arrest in connection with the skill development scam case.

However, the investigation agencies challenged this argument, contending that judicial remand in one case should not be automatically considered as deemed custody in all cases.

Justice K. Suresh Reddy presided over the proceedings and considered both the issue of deemed custody and the merits of the cases.

After careful deliberation, the judge reserved the orders and ultimately dismissed the regular bail applications in the IRR and Angallu cases, citing the grounds of deemed custody.

In the alleged Fibernet case, Justice Suresh Reddy observed that the anticipatory bail application was denied because the investigation had reached an advanced stage.

Given the imminent completion of the investigation, the court deemed anticipatory bail inappropriate at this juncture, leading to the dismissal of Naidu's petition.
