News Brief
AAP Chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were named as accused in the liquor policy scam in a fresh supplementary charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday (17 May).
This comes a day after ED told the Supreme Court that it is going to do so. It alleged that Kejriwal demanded Rs 100 crore in bribes and stayed in a 7-star hotel in Goa, whose bills were paid in lakhs of rupees.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court reserved its judgment on Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest by the ED. Kejriwal was arrested on 21 March and then released by the Supreme Court on interim bail for election campaigning.
While he is out on bail, another issue of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal's assault case has gripped the party. While Kejriwal refused to respond on the matter, he was seen with his accused personal secretary.
