'Border Fencing, CRPF Deployment, Talks With Kukis And Meities': What Modi Government Did In First 100 Days For Manipur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah released a report card of the work done by the Narendra Modi government in the first 100 days of its third term and highlighted the focus areas.

To resolve the Manipur crisis, the Modi government has started fencing the India-Myanmar border, considering it the root cause of the problem and 30 km of the fencing has been completed.

"The central government has approved a budget to fence the whole 1,500 km border. We have successfully deployed CRPF (Central Reserved Police Force) at strategic locations," Shah said.

The security lapses have been fixed, which has resulted in decreased violence in Manipur, Shah asserted. "We are hopeful of bringing the situation under control. We are in talks with both the local tribes," he said.

"Because this is racial violence, there cannot be any solution until there is a dialogue between them. We are speaking to the Kuki groups and the Meitei groups. We have created a roadmap to solve the issue," he added.

Shah also expressed the Modi government's commitment to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 for the management, preservation and misuse of Waqf properties and promised to pass it in the coming days.
