Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced that his ministry is ready to allocate Rs 2 lakh crore to Karnataka for various road projects within a month, provided the state government gives the necessary land.

Speaking at the valedictory session of the BJP state executive committee meeting in Bengaluru on Thursday, Gadkari said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently met him in New Delhi.

“I told them that I am ready to give Rs 2 lakh crore to Karnataka in one month for road works. But my condition to them is to get the land acquisition done... get forest and other clearances. In Karnataka, many projects are stuck owing to this. I cannot make roads in the air," Gadkari said, The New Indian Express reported.

Further, Gadkari said that many MPs from Karnataka come to meet him with proposals for road projects.

He added that there is no dearth of funds for the road projects.

Gadkari added that the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway is on track for completion before December 2024 and will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
