Dehradun airport
In order to meet the expected future passenger growth, a new terminal building of AAI's Dehradun Airport got inaugurated by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently.
The newly inaugurated building, spread in an area of 28,729 Sqm, will be able to handle 1,200 passengers during peak hour, thereby expanding the capacity of the airport eight-fold.
With the project cost of Rs 325 crore, first phase of development work includes construction of Domestic Terminal Building along with Utility Block, Car Park, Sewage Treatment Plant, Rainwater Harvesting Structures and other ancillary structures.
Dehradun is the gateway to many tourist places along with Chardham for pilgrims coming from all over the world. To increase air connectivity to hilly areas, this airport will also facilitate helicopter service facility under UDAN Scheme, which will boost tourism in the region as well as create employment opportunities for the local youths.
Ample retail space spread in an area of 6,465 Sqm is also part of the Terminal to accelerate revenue generation and employment opportunities for local youths.
The new building also has eco-friendly sustainable features like double curved roof to aid in Rainwater Harvesting, Sewage Treatment Plant, Solar Power System, Energy Efficient Fixtures and provision of maximum natural light through skylights.
