Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue in Kupwara district
Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday (7 November) unveiled a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Kupwara district located near the Line of Control.
As per the reports, the statue has been installed at 41 National Rifle (Maratha LI) camp, which is closer to the India-Pak border.
Talking about the inauguration of the statue, CM Shinde said that it is a matter of pride that a magnificent equestrian statue is going to be near the India- Pakistan border.
"He was a born leader, who scripted a new history of India through his mesmerizing victory against the enemy," the J&K LG said.
"By unleashing his military genius and moral force, Shivaji mobilized millions of Indians and achieved sovereignty for Maratha empire. His universal and eternal values continue to be relevant today and guiding us on the path of social equality and peaceful co-existence," he added.
