The total national active caseload as of 19 January was 2 lakh (2,00,528) while a total of 6,31,417 healthcare workers were recorded until 6 pm last evening as having received the vaccine, as reported by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Of this, Karnataka tops the list with 80,686 health workers who got the vaccine administered, followed by Telangana with 69,405 and Andhra Pradesh at 58,495.

As reported, the cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against Covid-19 has touched 6,31,417 (till 6 pm on 19 January ) through 11,660 sessions.

“Data for the past four days stands testimony to our planning
and execution on the vaccination front. We have received appreciation from different quarters for having clocked high coverage since Day 1," said Karnataka's Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr S Sudhakar, as reported.

As for new cases, 71.76 per cent of the new cases are from six states and union territories of which Kerala continues to top the list with 3,346 cases followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu with 1,924 and 551 new cases, respectively, as of last evening.


More than 72 per cent of the deaths in the last 24 hours have been reported from just eight states.

But in a positive news, the country has recorded less than 140 fatalities (137 fatalities) in the last 24 hours after approximately 8 months.

The vaccination drive was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 16 January 2021 and so far, has seen minimal reports of adverse effects of the jab.

A total of only nine Adverse Event Following Immunisation (AEFI) cases have required hospitalisation, with three discharged in Delhi, three in Karnataka, one of whom has been discharged, one each discharged in Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand, and one in Rajasthan, who was under observation as of Tuesday.
