10 Rajya Sabha MPs have been elected to the Lok Sabha in the recently held General Elections, leaving 10 positions vacant.
The Rajya Sabha secretariat has released a notification in this regard, prompting the Election Commission to announce election dates for them.
The vacancies include two seats each from Assam, Bihar and Maharashtra, and one each from Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tripura.
Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Union Cabinet Minister Sarbananda Sonowal were elected to the Lok Sabha from Assam.
Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda was elected from Haryana's Rohtak and Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Madhya Pradesh's Guna.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj descendant Udayanraje Bhonsle and Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal were elected from Maharashtra's Satara and North Mumbai respectively.
Congress general secretary K C Venugopal got elected from Kerala's Alappuzha vacating the Rajya Sabha seat in Rajasthan Biplab Kumar Deb vacated the Tripura seat.
The notification said these leaders "have ceased to be Members of Rajya Sabha from the date of their being chosen as members of the 18th Lok Sabha, i.e., the 4th of June 2024."
