A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period before the facts come out, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said in his response to 'The Sabarmati Report' movie that released on Friday (15 November).
'The Sabarmati Report', starring Vikrant Massey who is known for his roles in '12th Fail' and 'Mirzapur', depicts the circumstances surrounding the 2002 train burning near Godhra station in Gujarat.
Fifty-nine passengers, many of them Hindu pilgrims travelling to Ayodhya (known as Karsevaks) to attend a religious event, died in the train fire that was later found to be an act of arson.
The train burning incident and killing of karsevaks, triggered widespread riots in Godhra, resulting in more than 1,000 deaths.
At the time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat.
'The Sabarmati Report' has collected Rs 3.60 crore at the box office in the first two days after release.
The movie has been produced by the Ektaa R Kapoor-helmed Balaji Motion Pictures and directed by Dheeraj Sarna.
Alongside Vikrant Massey, the movie cast features Raashii Khanna and Riddhi Dogra in significant roles.
