Indian wrestler Babita Phogat and WWE wrestler Kavita Devi have been appointed as deputy directors in the Sports and Youth Affairs Department by the Haryana government.
She said that with three sportspersons at the helm of the sports department in the state, together, they will take Haryana's sports to greater heights.
Phogat said that she will work to ensure that the players get all the facilities -- related to practice or diet they need to ensure focus on their game.
They have reportedly been appointed under the Haryana Outstanding Sportspersons (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2018. They had applied to the state government for the posts.
Singh's taking the lead as the sports minister in Khattar's cabinet was welcomed by the sports fraternity in the state and the country.
Phogat has said that his being connected to the ground will help in bringing improvement.
There are conditions underlined to their appointment. These pertain to participation in professional sports, endorsements and others.
The appointment of Phogat and Devi to the coveted posts in the state's sport administration indicates that Haryana is moving towards further improving its stature in the national arena.
With Sandeep Singh at the helm of affairs, all eyes will now be on the formidable team that comes from popular sports in Haryana, and their versatile representation on the international level.
The three, co-incidentally, share a common factor, which is coming against odds thrown by life -- in accident, choices, social and professional norms.
Along with their sporting achievement, they also bring oodles of character and attitude to sports-brilliant Haryana.
