Jammu-Kashmir: All Three Terrorists Involved In Akhnoor Attack Eliminated, Indian Army Dog Phantom Dies From Enemy Fire

Security forces eliminated three terrorists involved in an attack on an Army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor sector on Monday (28 October). The 27-hour operation concluded early Tuesday morning.

The encounter began on Monday when terrorists targeted an Army ambulance traveling with a convoy near the Line of Control (LoC). One terrorist was neutralised by evening.

The remaining two were killed on Tuesday morning near the Assan temple in Jogwan village during a final assault. Following a quiet night, the Army and police launched a renewed offensive at 7 a.m.

After intense gunfire, the remaining terrorists were eliminated within two hours. The operation included BMP-II infantry vehicles, special forces, and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, along with aerial support from helicopters and drones.

"We salute the supreme sacrifice of our true hero—a valiant Indian Army Dog, Phantom. As our troops were closing in on the trapped terrorists, Phantom drew enemy fire, sustaining fatal injuries. His courage, loyalty, and dedication will never be forgotten," Army posted on X.

"After round-the-clock surveillance throughout the night, an intense firefight unfolded today morning resulting in a significant victory for our forces. Relentless operations and tactical excellence have led to the elimination of three terrorists," it added.

The operation also saw the successful recovery of war-like stores, marking a critical step in maintaining security in the region. Earlier, the body of one terrorist along with weapons was recovered.
