The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police launched a series of operations on Tuesday (22 October) across multiple districts in the Kashmir Valley, dismantling a recruitment network linked to a newly formed terrorist group with connections to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Acting on intelligence regarding an "active" militant cell, police conducted raids in Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal in central Kashmir; Kulgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama in south Kashmir; and Bandipora in the north, Indian Express reported.
This action follows a terror attack two days earlier in Ganderbal district, where seven workers from an infrastructure company, most of them from outside J&K, were killed in a camp attack by gunmen.
The company was involved in building a tunnel in the region, marking the first major attack on an infrastructure project in J&K. At least two militants reportedly arrived at the camp and opened fire indiscriminately.
